In Ontario, 10 per cent of all chemotherapy medications are oral drugs. This number continues to increase as 25 per cent of new anti-cancer drugs and 48 per cent of new chemotherapy drugs being developed are oral chemotherapy medications. There are many advantages to these types of drugs including:convenience, low toxicity, and fever burdens on regional cancer centres.
