Systemic Therapy Nursing Education Guideline

Patients should receive the same level of safe, high-quality, evidence-based cancer care, regardless of their physical location. In order to help reach these principles, both initial and ongoing education is needed to support nurses at level 4 sites in acquiring the knowledge and skills required to develop and maintain competency in chemotherapy and biotherapy administration and care. The Regional Systemic Therapy Nursing Education Guideline was developed to outline these education requirements.

CAREchart@home

CAREchart@home is a telephone service that provides oncology patients with symptom management support administered by experienced registered nurses who are certified in oncology nursing. It’s important that we provide patients with the right tools and supports to confidently manage their care when they leave the four walls of the cancer centre. Providing patients with after-hours support will empower them to better manage their symptoms at home, reducing emergency department visits.
